Importing Data

When you need access to files outside of the Library or Site, you can use the Import window to fetch them. Import works on collections of files, so you only need to identify the base page and Synthesis will import all of the files that are linked to them.

Display the Import Panel by pressing the Import Button: You can hide the panel by pressing the Import Button again.

Import To

Set the Import To field to specify where you want the imported files to be placed. You set this field by pressing the associated Select Button:

Import files

Set the Import Files list to specify the files you want imported. You set this field by pressing the associated Select Button:

(You don't need to identify all of the files you want imported, as any linked files will be imported automatically by default.)

Import Linked Files

Make sure that the Import Linked Files checkbox is set correctly. When this checkbox is selected, all linked files will be imported along with the listed files. Unselect this box if you only want to import the specified files.

Import

Press the Import Button: to complete the import.

Example

This example imports C:\_eric\web\ewink\cerro-torre\index.html, and all of the files it links to, into the adventure\cerro_torre\slides directory of the Library. (C:\_eric\library\adventure\cerro_torre\slides)

The import panel is used to import collections of documents into the Library. This is used to add new content to the Library, from where it can be placed in the appropriate location on your site.

Import index.html and all linked files

  1. Display the Import Panel by pressing the Import Button:
  2. Specify where you want the imported files to be placed by filling in the Import To: field using the Select Button:
  3. Select the files you want to import by filling it the Import Files: field using the Select Button:
  4. Make sure the Import Linked Files checkbox is checked, so that any files linked to index.html will be imported as well.
  5. Press the Import Button: to import the files.
